Fissure filling is a process where a natural Ruby is heated in a high pressure chamber with ruby composite; this immersion penetrates into the all the naturally present fissures and openings of the gem filling them for cleaner mores lustrous finish. The effectiveness of the treatment is amazing, in that it transforms corundum that is opaque and into material that is transparent and beautiful for use in jewelry. For a fraction of the cost, the rubies sold in this listing are equivalent in color and clarity to top of the line Burmese rubies after undergoing this treatment.
Care: You can clean it with warm soapy water (dish soap like Dawn is perfect) and a toothbrush! Most gems should be cleaned this way because ultrasonic cleaners can damage them.

How do I know a gemstone is natural?
All of our gemstones are handpicked by our GIA accredited gemologist. We are happy to offer a certificate of authenticity for any gemstone purchase from NNJ Designs. We can also send a gemstone to the GIA for certification.
We primarily deal in natural gemstones, but as lab grown gems increase affordability, we offer them on rare occassion. We will always disclose if a gemstone is natural or lab created.
